Playschool has been busy this winter exploring all the things we can enjoy in the cold weather. We created a new wintry background decoration for our room. By painting over white crayons on white paper, snowflakes seemed to magically appear. We used sponges to paint with to help develop motor control. Then we practiced gluing by making a face on a snowman! This also develops fine motor control and allowed them to make some very expressive snowmen.
Sensory exploration is also important, so this week the children got to feel how soft and warm wool is, and how we can squish it in our hands but it puffs up again. After that we decorated paper mittens with pieces of colorful craft wool.
